A slight humid breeze ruffled the surrounding grasslands. The black night sky filled with stars, slowly turning to golden orange with rays of sunshine. With that rising sun brought a new arrival, a chestnut colored mare. Her long unruly tail trailed along behind her as she slowly walked. The mess of what was called a mane, stuck to her neck, matted down with sweat. The golden rays of sun, brought a heat of hardships and surrival of the fittest. The summer months were unforgiving with the heat that barred down on the land everyday. Any animal who braved the large golden ball of flames were lucky to make it through a day without water. The night brought some relief as the air cooled and there was often a slight breeze blowing in these parts.
The chestnut colored mare's head swung lazily back and forth through the grasses, nipping off what she could get. The little moisture that still filled the grass blazes weren't enough to fuel the mare. Belle raised her head to scout for any signs of water. She couldn't have sworen that there was a large lake of crystal clear blue water only a few yards away. The mare blinked a few times, and her vision cleared, to see nothing but rolling grassland. Dissapointed Belle kept moving. Then she stopped dead in her tracks. Her ears shot straight up, they flicked back and forth, trying to caught something unusual in the air.
In fact the sound was the dry breeze floating across a surface of water. Belle shook off the beads of sweat rolling done her body and took off in the direction of the water. She skidded to a stop taking in the sight of dark blue water. The mare craned her neck and started to drink in as much water as she could. The clear water was ice cold and quenched her dying thirst. Belle straightened her neck to look out over the new land that she had come upon. It seemed to have no equine life to be seen. She thought about it, she had been traveling for many months now and she was looking for a place to settle.
